A área de atuação da pesquisadora está centrada em produtividade e ciclagem de nutrientes em ecossistemas terrestres, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: biomassa, ciclagem de nutrientes, dinâmica de carbono. Tais estudos têm focado especialmente nos impactos da fragmentação, de outros distúrbios antropogênico, assim como em questões relacionadas aos efeitos das mudanças climáticas sobre o estoque de carbono e os ciclos biogeoquímicos na Mata Atlântica.
