He completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of California, Davis. He maintains international research collaborations with the Universidad Nacional de Cuyo (Mendoza, Argentina) and the Universidad de Chile. His research focuses on the effects of environmental conditions on axillary bud dormancy release and flowering in grapevines under tropical conditions, as well as studies on hydraulic conductivity between berries and the mother plant. His research activities are closely linked to human resource training, particularly through the supervision of graduate students in the Plant Production Program at UENF, where he has supervised more than 30 M.Sc. and Ph.D. theses. He served as President of the Sociedade Brasileira de Fisiologia Vegetal (SBFV) from 2009 to 2011. He was Editor-in-Chief of the\u00a0<em>Brazilian Journal of Plant Physiology<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0<em>Theoretical and Experimental Plant Physiology (TxPP)<\/em>. He also served as a Board Member of the Associa\u00e7\u00e3o Brasileira de Editores Cient\u00edficos.
