In this respect, research has been conducted on issues related to the sectors of mining, oil and gas (production and transport), ornamental stones and geogrid and geomembrane characterization. Geotechnical engineering has two lines of research, including four projects that interface with the area of structures, since the problems raised are intricately linked to the two areas, in both numerical and experimental modeling.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Lines of research in geotechnical engineering:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>1. Geological-geotechnical investigation<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Project 5 \u2013 Soil-structure interaction and geotextile and geomembrane characterization (Coordinator: Prof. Paulo Maia)<\/p>\n<p>Project 6 \u2013 Experimental characterization and numerical modeling of construction materials in geotechnical engineering (Coordinator: Prof. Aldo Farf\u00e1n)<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>2.
