Graduate Course: Objectives, Concentration Area, and Research Lines

The Graduate Program in Reservoir and Exploration Engineering at the State University of Northern Rio de Janeiro – Darcy Ribeiro (Universidade Estadual do Norte Fluminense Darcy Ribeiro – UENF) was established in 1995, offering master’s and doctoral programs. The course features an innovative design, integrating core disciplines in oil and gas exploration and production (E&P), for professional and academic training, reflecting the nature of the project that established the Laboratory of Petroleum Engineering and Exploration (Laboratório de Engenharia e Exploração de Petróleo – LENEP/UENF).
This project is guided by the principle of combining high academic standards, prioritizing applied research and technological development, with strong regional integration through collaboration with the industrial sector in the Campos Basin and Santos Basin a major oil-producing region. Our department is diverse and highly qualified, consisting exclusively of Ph.D. holders, with expertise in areas such as Geophysics, Geology and Geochemistry, Petrophysics, Petroleum Engineering, and Applied and Computational Mathematics.

Concentration Area:

  • PETROLEUM EXPLORATION AND PRODUCTION ENGINEERING

Research lines:

  • MATHEMATICAL AND COMPUTATIONAL MODELING

  • PETROLEUM GEOLOGY AND GEOCHEMISTRY

  • INTEGRATED RESERVOIR MODELING

  • RESERVOIR AND WELL ENGINEERING
