Please note that according to the General Regulations for Stricto Sensu Graduate Programs currently in effect<\/strong>: <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Art. 3 <\/b><\/span><\/span>\u2013 The Master’s degree will have a minimum duration of 12 (twelve) months and a maximum duration of 24 (twenty-four) months, and the Doctoral degree will have a minimum duration of 24 (twenty-four) months and a maximum duration of 48 (forty-eight) months, counted from the date of admission to the Program.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a7 1-<\/b><\/span><\/span> The graduate student may request an extension from the Program Coordinating Committee (CCP) for up to 6 (six) additional months. If the request is approved by the CCP, it must inform the Dean\u2019s Office for Research and Graduate Studies (PROPPG) and the Academic Secretariat (SECACAD).<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a7 2<\/b><\/span><\/span>\u2013 In exceptional cases, the graduate student may request an extension of the deadline for up to 6 (six) more months. For this, the student must submit the extension request to the CCP at least 3 (three) months before the expiration of the original deadline, accompanied by the following documents: justification for the request, advisor’s opinion, activity report with the respective timeline, and a preliminary version of the dissertation or thesis. The student must have met all the regulatory requirements, except for the defense. The lack of any of these documents will prevent the CCP from considering the request. Once the CCP approves the request, it will be forwarded to the Research and Graduate Studies Chamber (CPPG) for evaluation.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a7 3-<\/b><\/span><\/span> Periods in which the student is absent from the university will be counted in the calculation of the maximum duration, except for absences due to health issues and maternity leave.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a7 4<\/b><\/span><\/span>\u2013 The extension will only be allowed for graduate students who have not had any course failures in their academic history within the Program.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
