Dr. Jurandi Gonçalves de Oliveira holds a B.Sc. in Agronomy (1992) and an M.Sc. in Plant Physiology (1995) from the Universidade Federal de Viçosa (UFV), and a Ph.D. in Plant Biology (2000) from the Universidade Estadual de Campinas (UNICAMP). He completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Department of Biochemistry of the University of California Riverside, USA (2015–2016). He is currently an Associate Professor I at the Universidade Estadual do Norte Fluminense Darcy Ribeiro (UENF). He served as Vice President of the Sociedade Brasileira de Fisiologia Vegetal during the 2010–2011 term. His expertise lies in Agronomy, with an emphasis on Plant Biochemistry and Physiology, focusing primarily on postharvest physiology, respiratory metabolism, and ethylene metabolism, particularly in studies related to the conservation and quality of plant-derived products. He has published approximately 80 articles in peer-reviewed journals and around 400 papers in national and international conference proceedings. He served as Guest Editor of Frontiers in Plant Science for the special issue entitled “Ascorbate Metabolism in Plants” (2022). He is currently serving as Guest Editor of Agronomy for the forthcoming special issue “New Trends in Molecular Biochemistry and Physiology of Pre- and Post-Harvest of Fruits and Vegetables”, scheduled for publication in April 2025. Over the past five years (since 2020), he has participated in 16 funded research projects, coordinating eight of them. He was awarded the Young Scientist of the State of Rio de Janeiro fellowship (2007–2009; 2009–2012), held a Research Productivity Fellowship from the Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico (CNPq) from 2007 to 2019, and was recognized as a Scientist of the State of Rio de Janeiro (2013–2019; 2024–2026).
