Rosana Rodrigues

Dr. Rosana Rodrigues was born in Rio de Janeiro and graduated in Agronomic Engineering from the Federal Rural University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRRJ), obtained her Master’s degree in Crop Science at UFRRJ, a Ph.D. in Plant Production from the State University of Northern Rio de Janeiro Darcy Ribeiro (UENF) (1993–1997), and completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Molecular Biology at the University of Florida (2003–2004); she is a “Cientista do Nosso Estado” fellow of FAPERJ and holds a CNPq Productivity Fellowship at level 1B; she has been at UENF since its foundation and is currently an Associate Professor I at the Laboratory of Plant Genetic Breeding, within the Center for Agricultural Sciences and Technologies, serving as coordinator and lecturer in undergraduate and graduate programs and affiliated with the Graduate Program in Genetics and Plant Breeding at UENF, accredited by CAPES (level 6); she coordinates research and extension projects, acts as an ad hoc consultant for funding agencies and national and international journals, and has served as scientific editor for the journals Horticultura Brasileira and Tropical Plant Pathology; her academic management experience includes serving as advisor to the Office of Research and Graduate Studies at UENF and as coordinator of PIBIC/CNPq/UENF during 2002–2003 and 2005–2007, member of the National Board of the Brazilian Society of Plant Breeding (SBMP) from August 2009 to August 2011, coordinator of the Graduate Program in Genetics and Plant Breeding at UENF (CAPES level 6) from 2013 to 2015, Dean of Research and Graduate Studies at UENF from January 2016 to June 2019, Vice-Rector from 2020 to July 2023, and currently Rector of UENF, member of the Superior Council of FAPERJ, and member of the Agronomy Advisory Committee at CNPq; her main research areas include Plant Breeding, Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture, Plant Disease Resistance, and Plant–Pathogen Interaction; she has published 164 scientific articles, with 4,640 citations and h-index of 38 (Google Scholar), 2,252 citations and h-index of 27 (Scopus ID 16242657800), and 1,649 citations and h-index of 24 (Web of Science Research ID C-4152-2013) (data collected on July 29, 2023), is author/co-author of seven book chapters, has three protected cultivars and ten registered cultivars; she coordinates an extension project in three municipalities in the North–Northwest Fluminense region, leads seven research projects funded by CNPq and FAPERJ, is a mentor of the junior company Engloba Consultoria, and coordinates the implementation project of the Northern Fluminense Agricultural Technology Park (ParTecAgro), supported by FAPERJ.
