Visa

The Visa is a document granted by the Brazilian Embassy or Consulate that allows the entry and permanence of citizens of other nationalities in the Brazilian territory.

Brazil has agreement on visa waivers with 90 countries. For its citizens, the need for a visa to enter Brazil can be waived, allowing them to stay up to 90 days. In these cases, just the entry stamp granted by the Federal Police is enough.

Medical Care

Every Brazilian or foreign citizen who lives in the country can obtain the National Health Card. The card stores individual data about users of the Unified Health System (Sistema Único de Saúde), such as the dates and places where this patient was seen, what services were provided , by which professional and what procedures were performed.

The purpose of the card is to organize and systematize data on the service provided to users, since it generates a national identification number that facilitates access to the service network. Thus, the card facilitates communication between the various health services. For example: a health team can follow the procedures performed by a person using SUS anywhere in the country.

In addition, through the use of cards, it is possible to generate reliable and updated data that allow the planning of public health policies.

The SUS card is very easy and quick to order, in addition to being free. Registration can be done in person at the Municipal Health Department or at a SUS Health Unit. And a pre-registration can be made through the website, so that your request is anticipated. After completing this step, you must print the protocol, which will be valid for 90 days, and go to the nearest health unit to be able to receive your card, always carrying your ID and CPF.

To issue the card, you must present:

  • Identity document;
  • CPF;
  • Birth certificate or marriage certificate.
  • In some municipalities, proof of residence is required, such as a water, electricity or telephone bill

In any case, it is important to remember that no one will be prevented from receiving care for not having or having a SUS card.

By having the card, the user will also have access to the Citizen Health Portal and can consult their history of records of actions and health services in SUS. Check the information of your hospitalizations, with data on outpatient care of medium and high complexity and purchase of medicines in the Popular Pharmacy (Farmácia Popular) program. Knowing the names of the health professionals who attended you, the period, the name of the hospital and the clinical and surgical procedures performed give citizens the possibility to participate in the inspection and improvement of the SUS.
